Ms Nirmal S. Pendharkar (Master’s in Sociology)
While living in New Delhi, she involved herself in social work for Women and Children. Availed of guidance from Ms Durgabai Deshmukh, the then Chairperson of Central Council of Social Welfare. Founded KG school, for free, for preschool education of children of construction workers in and around Lodhi Rd., New Delhi.
 
Later, as a resident in California in U.S.A., participated in the San Jose (Silicon Valley) community social service ‘ESL’ (English as Second Language) Program, for teaching expatriates.
 
She has observed and written on tribals of Andaman Islands, on Caste issues, social taboos, empowerment of women and other issues faced by our children and women.
Now settled in Pune and for the past 15 yrs she has associated with ‘Vanasthali’ (a 28 yrs. old NGO) and, for the past 10 years, also as its Trustee.
 
Sharad B. Pendharkar
After graduation in Electronics & Telecommunications Engineering, he was selected in Central services and joined in New Delhi - in Civil Aviation Dept.
He was in-charge of carrying out installations of Navigational facilities at Airports of Bombay, Port Blair (Andamans), West Bengal, U.P., etc.
 
He was selected for specialized courses in F.A.A. of U.S.A. in Electronic Navigational Aids (ILS, Radars, VHF Omni range, Microwave Links, etc.) for Aviation.
He accepted appointment as the Head of Telecommn. & Defense Systems Dept. in a premier European multinational organization, retiring as its Vice-President.
 

Extensive experience in interviewing and placement of executives from IIT’s and Central Govt. Services for selection of Executives and Scientific positions for Central Govt. Ministries, and a invitee Technical Member of the Union Public Service Commission.
In the student-life had the privilege of being groomed by Kavi Yeshwant, the poet laureate of Baroda State, Maharashtra Kavi of the State and the ‘Padmabhushan’ honoree by the Indian Govt. Keenly interested in Indian Languages, including Sanskrit.

 

9 years ago they founded ‘PaanPoee Vachanalay – a Village Library Movement’, at own cost and time, offering wholesome ‘Reading’ at their doorsteps entirely for FREE. The carefully chosen books offer the communities a ‘World of Knowledge’, which inspire and empower the readers for life, a free service like a road side ‘PaanPoee’.
Thus the name of our mission taken from the caption of one of his famous poems ‘PaanPoee’, an allegory on purveying of culture and education, for all, for free.
